Is franchising the right way to grow your business?

Franchising can be a way to expand a business, but it needs a model that someone else can operate successfully and a franchisor ready to support them. Before you invest in recruitment, it is worth examining whether the numbers, systems and customer demand support the idea.

I help business owners assess the opportunity and, where franchising is suitable, develop the practical foundations for a franchise network.

From feasibility to the first franchisees

  1. 01

    Assess the opportunity

We examine the business model, trading history, demand, operating requirements and likely returns for both you and a franchisee. The aim is to identify whether franchising is workable and what needs attention before you proceed.

  2. 02

    Develop the franchise model

I help you work through the proposed fees, territory approach, support requirements and financial projections. We consider the resources you will need to establish and support the network.

  3. 03

    Document how the business works

I help develop operating manuals and training materials so that the methods behind your business can be understood and used by other people.

  4. 04

    Prepare for specialist legal work

We identify the commercial arrangements that need to be reflected in the franchise documentation and advise on franchise agreements. We work with specialist franchise solicitors as necessary for the legal requirements relevant to your plans.

  5. 05

    Prepare the recruitment offer

I help develop the marketing materials, profiling, recruitment advertising and candidate process. This includes how enquiries will be handled and how prospective franchisees will be assessed.

What we will agree

Depending on the assignment, the work may include a feasibility assessment, development plan, financial model, operations manual, franchisee profiling, recruitment materials and launch support. We will agree the scope and fees before work begins.

All FAQs
Is my business suitable for franchising?

A successful business is a starting point, but it also needs to be repeatable, financially workable for a franchisee and supported by clear systems. A feasibility assessment can help identify whether franchising is suitable and what needs to be put in place.

What does setting up a franchise involve?

The work can include feasibility, financial planning, defining the franchise model, operations manuals, training, specialist legal documentation and preparing the recruitment offer. We agree the stages needed for your business rather than assuming every assignment is the same.

How long does it take to franchise a business?

It depends on how well established and documented the business is, what needs developing and the resources available. We can discuss a realistic programme after reviewing your starting point. It is better to prepare properly than recruit before the model is ready.

Do I need a franchise solicitor?

Specialist legal advice is important when preparing or reviewing a franchise agreement. My role covers the business and commercial work; a suitably qualified solicitor may be required should more specific advice be needed on legal rights, obligations and documentation.
